watson home-making 103: geneva, switzerland (a miracle!)

[Apologies: after living in our new apartment for more than a month, I finally managed the magical combination of cleaning AND camera.]  Living here has been such a blessing.  We still did not have a place to live the day before our sublease ended - and Chantal came to the rescue!  She is an incredible roommate and shares with us an amazing apartment.

This is our cozy kitchen.  Vixie, the fish, lives above the microwave and probably has been horribly irradiated over the years.

This is our bedroom.  The small plant on the left is our little basil plant.  His name is Lazarus Junior.  It has been touch and go a few times.  The doors lead to a balcony!

Chris and I have reveled in our access to Chantal’s books.  Notice the giant gap in the Lord of the Rings section?  We are hooked.

We live about three blocks from the lake.  A small marina is right there, and the Jet just around the corner.  With the lake right here and a park one block to the right, it is the most wonderful place to run - and live!

It looks so lovely! Having read all the books in my own apartment about three times each, and living near the smallest public library possibly in the country, I’m jealous of Chantal’s bookshelf too! :)

Your apartment is gorgeous!! I am super-jealous. Also, if you are worried about the fish, just keep in mind that the microwave does double-duty as a giant lead box, so he’s probably fine :). When you make it back stateside, I can tell you the almost-hilarious story of a crappy exroommate and her irrational fear of the microwave, which includes her jumping behind a couch when I reheated food.

i would love to tell what i (chris) am doing in geneva, but i am without a visa!

so it’s gotta stay on the downlow… (until i leave).

@chris-trying to stay on the DL…and yet posting that you are sans visa for the ENTIRE world to see. Very sly, very sly.

I guess it’s a bragging point to slip past border patrol, though.

    Correction: “Needs” guns.

Though my original is kind of funny too, but more disturbing.

It’s good to hear from you guys! Do you think there might be some room for a guest to stay a few nights? I’ve been looking online and have seen some (relatively) cheap flights. What’s your guy’s schedule like during the week?

Oh, and by the way, might you have a land-line phone# I could call you at? I would love to talk to you guys (don’t worry, I use an italian phonecard with a mega number of hours on it)

Very cute! I wouldn’t worry about the fish- microwaves are totally safe. Any microwaves that get out are dispersed, so can’t form currents which would cause heating. Also, nothing in a microwave is strong enough to be ionizing, so all the microwave hoo-haa is just silliness.
