Where Are We Now?

Tory and I are now in Honduras.  The same size as Liberia, and therefore Virginia, home to ~7.5 million people, and prone to hurricanes/floods, Honduras has seen its share of natural disasters.  Most famously, Hurricane Mitch reported set the country back “50 years” according to then-President Flores.  Tegucigalpa, the capital, is where Tory and I will be based while I study recent shelter responses to natural disasters.  As the satellite photography above shows, it’s something of a visual blight on an otherwise astonishingly beautiful landscape.

Honduras is most famous for it’s beautiful natural environment (such as Roatán) and archeological sites (such as Copán).

Yes, there was a 7.1 magnitude earthquake here yesterday, and yes, we’re fine.  More to come!
